Things all new flyfisherman should know!

Published by flyfishfanatic at 11:40 pm under Uncategorized

I have recived some questions regarding how to get going in this sport and tips. I thought that i would write a small blurb on this. There are a few things that new flyfisherman should do, they are,

1- Go out and pick up some books on the subject. The book that i recommend is The Gilly, this book is thought of by many as the Bible of flyfishing.

2-go to a good fishing store and pick up a rod\reelline combo package. Don’t spend alot on your first rod combo $100-$120 should do it.

3-Go to your local park or school and practice casting.

4-Go to your local lakes around town and watch other fisherman, most fisherman will be more than happy to share there knowlege with you.

5- take some flyfishing courses like fly casting, flytying, and entimology(sp).

6- Pick up some videos, i recommend Stillwater fishing with Brian Chan(the god of BC flyfishing)

I hope that this will help any new fisherman. i am always happy to share what i know and will try to answer qustions that come up.

Wishing everyone tight lines and tons of fish.
