Flyfish Fanatic

Well, I’m back from my 4 days of fishing up at Roche lake and area.

The weekend was a mixed bag of snow, Rain, Sun, Clouds, and Wind, Wind, Wind!!!!!

Once we arrived, we saw exactly what we did NOT want to see, ICE on the lake. We decided to try one of the nearby lower level lakes called Bleeker lake.

We had a good after noon at Bleeker, catching many fish, but half way though the day, the lake started it’s spring “Turn” or mixing. Once this starts, you might as well just pack up, as the fish turn right off of feeding.

Here are a few of the fish caught by myself and a few of my buddies.

A 22″ Rainbow caught By BoboThe day was fun until the lake started to tun, once this happened we decided to head back to Roche lake and see if there was any fishable water there.

When we got back to Roche lake, ALL the ice was gone, the high winds had blown away all the ice, and we were in luck for fishing.

We all went out  but because the fish were still a little shocked by the Ice coming off the fishing was slow.

The next day, all hell broke loose, with all of us catching in excess of 50 fish each. Mind you, the majority of the fish caught were small (12-16″) but there were also many larger fish (16-22″) caught as well.

Sunday was much the same and that evening we got into Many larger fish, but it was so dark we tried to get pictures and they did not turn out.

All in all it was a great weekend.
